about

H R Bell was born in Berkshire in 1976, graduating from the Courtauld Institute of Art. The artist studied Fine Art at the Surikov Institute, Moscow, and the Repin Academy of Fine Arts, St. Petersburg. After living in Morocco, Turkey, Germany, Bolivia and Mexico, H R Bell moved to Cornwall, the former home of the artist’s great grandfather, the Newlyn School painter, Frank Gascoigne Heath.

The artist captures a sense of place though its people. The painted subjects are seen going about their daily lives - work, play, conversation, contemplation. Memories, rhythms, impressions all combine and become the sights and sounds that are brought back to the studio. It is the universal experience of being human that resonates throughout.
